The idea that the Jews were always and uniquely monotheist. The belief that there is only one God among the early Hebrew speakers, but to monolotry or henotheism. Monotheistic Judaism arises at a later date - during the Second Temple period. It was this monotheistic Judaism that really starts to resemble what we might call Judaism in its recognizable form.
