Being a realist does not make you infallible. You can still make errors. In fact, you would expect to make errors because you understand there is an objective reality out there about which you bewrong. It's rather like how religious people often have a realistic or objective view of morality. They think there exists a difference in reality between good and evil, and both of those things really exist. And they were right. For if any idea can be said to have in ated the scientific revolution and the enlightenment and provided the secular foundation of modern civilization, it is that one.
