Cyrus found another spartan to lead his ingent of ten thousand greek mercenaries. Clearchus and the greeks were supposed to be cyrus's body guard, but they ended up failing prince cyrus in the great battle of kunaa. Why didn't lysander go instead of clearchus? Maybe he felt that serving as a mercenary, as a free agent, acting outside the framework of the state was neath him at this point in his career.
