McTeague was considered to be kind of a Neil Zola naturalist writer of American version. He's known for naturalist writing which is like your desires and thirsts are like sort of acted out in the prose. And he's again a guy on the make in a capitalist society. McTeague really shocked the reading public with his graphic immediacy and human degradation and degeneration.
