Newfoundland's First Colony in North America

This was england's first meaningful attempt to establish a colony in north america. The indigenous peoples in the area were divided in their opinions of the colonists. Raleigh probably did help popularize its use in england, though. He also helped organize the devon militia to fight against the spanish armada and made it the flagship of the british naval fleet.
