CNN's John Sutter: Is there any real reason to believe in this day and age that a country's capacity to exert its will globally necessarily serves the interests of ordinary citizens? Trump seemed to think that it just didn't matter to ordinary Americans if the U.S. could exert its will, he says. It seems to me the answer is not to go in a Trumpian populist direction, but in a more social democratic European direction, said Sutter.
