In the united states, there's this kind of like a person owns their home. And so i think that housing is just treated differently than any other type of debt. I don't disagree that volatility is definitely the biggest factor here. But at the same time, you have other types of loans you can take out. At a certain point, you could take out a loan of 50 % of your portfolio value and live off that as well. You still succumb to some sort of a margin call should that portfolio value go below unagreed upon threshold.
