Freud and Jung's Experience With the Unconscious
Freud talked about having had a creative illness and Jung had what he called his encounter with the unconscious, a kind of shamanic creative illness. And there's this idea of the sort of creative illness that Ellen Berger talks about that's kind of mapped on to the shamanic illness. So would we consider Freud and Jung as having had this kind of experience? I feel like it's really positive that the dreamer was willing to be sacrificed. It may have been triggered through this romantic conflict, but it also may have happened for other reasons that are deeper.
