Machiavelli's Rhetoric on War

Machiavelli is at his most Machiavellian when discussing the topic of warfare. He seems to think that there are only two relationships possible between states, peaceful antagonism and active warfare. Fortune is one of Machiavelli's favorite concepts and guides much of his advice.
