The Moral Expansion Scale

Study looked at how people categorize different types of entities. People were asked to place animals and nature closer to their inner circle of moral concern compared to the out group members, or vice versa. The researchers found a reversal in these two marginal groups - with humans more likely to be tree huggers than non-hierarchists.
