As a marxist, i think that class is sort of the structuring principle of our social life. I have to be attentive to the way that class structures social life otherwise i'm not writing about the world that we really inhabit. So it's about an openness to observing those principles in action, but not necessarily making any conclusions about them. Like, i'm notWriting this novel to show that the patriarchy is bad. I'm just writing it with a, with an attempt at openness when it comes to describing how that system actually works in the lives of women and men.
