Sexuality, Politics, and Moral Panic

This chapter analyzes the relationship between economic crises and societal views on sexuality, highlighting how moral panics often emerge during uncertain times. It critiques the contradictions in political movements that advocate for sexual repression while exhibiting morally questionable behaviors themselves, and discusses the interplay between libidinal energy and political engagement. Additionally, the chapter examines the historical context of sexual repression in relation to authoritarianism and the misperceptions surrounding current political dynamics, especially within the MAGA ideology.
