The Quagga muscle by Valva is predicted to arrive in the next five years. It's a very good field of feeder so it will pull through a lot of the phytoplankton for food. But it changes that community structure and also has an ability to accumulate toxins which are then passed on into other species. The trophic cascades is how we grandly call it and it's the way in which it can have quite a profound influence on the water body in which it's found. We need to understand how these are working alongside one another and what the outcomes are.
