How Do You Race an Ultra Marathon?
An ultra marathon in my eyes is too far to race other people. You have to run what you've trained your body to be able to run. I go into it with a racepan and I follow it very strictly. Later on in the race after 65, 70 Ks, you are aware of where you're coming. But you're also kind of in survival mode there. So you'll always notice I'll be quite far back and then slowly make my way through the field - that's just how I run.
