The Ethics of Reading a Novel
The style of the novel is very modernist, with sentences that last several pages or cut off in the middle. So it can be really easy to get lost in the text. In some way, I understand why it's appealing to see it as a kind of performance of disorientation for the reader. But I think it's important to bear in mind the differences between the reading experience we're having and the reading experience that the character is having.
