Omega-3 and fish oil have favorable impacts on lots of mechanisms that underpin chronic diseases. For people who don't consume adequate amounts of oily fish or supplemental EPA and DHA omega-3 there will be a benefit from including them in their diet. Farmed fish actually has more omega-3 than fresh fish because farmed fish are fatter so they just have a lot more oil in. There is some questions regarding whether they have as much of the other healthy components.
