The Steps Before You Start Writing
The first thing you have to do is really identify who your audience is. For instance, I had a contract with a forestry company and I did a lot of writing for them. A huge part of my readership had English as a second language. So being conscious of that, I knew I had to use a more conversational day-to-day vocabulary than if I was writing for say, a group of doctors.
