The Young Ottomanist Movement
After the Crimean War, western soldiers and nurses moved right through the heart of the empire. This led to desire for greater influx of these new ideas like freedom of speech and the press. And this Ottomanist philosophy was embraced especially by sort of young reformists who came to be called young Ottomans. They wanted a constitution which would limit the powers of the monarch and provide for open participation in government.
