The Importance of Understanding Handedness

The brain has two hemispheres, literally half spheres. The right side of the body is controlled by the left side of the brain and vice versa. To understand handedness properly would probably also be to understand cerebral lateralization properly with all its implications for understanding human evolution and pathology. So what will work for the early theories about handedness?
