i think we have a lot of illusions about what it takes to get really good but i'm a huge fan deliberate practice and the end of raw time spent. There are physical limitations natural limitations and also there's always going to be diminishing marginal returns where you know the further along you go the harder it's going to be to improve your first year or two at anything. If you're five foot four, even if you spend 10,000 hours  you still don't think you'll be in the NBA so there are lots of other factors as well.
