Foundation is an artifact of history, and i think that its future in a cross platform swift world is really doomed. It provides you with so much functionality that you need in so many contexts. So the downsight of going to a more distributed model where these things instead become their own libraries or their own packages would be great. And this is something i've been thinking more and more about lately, especially when i've been using swift i.
