So in verse 8 we see this It says Daniel determined that he would not defile himself with the king's food or with the wine he drank. Later in verse 9 it says this God had granted Daniel kindness in compassion from the chief eunuch yet. He said to Daniel I fear my lord the king who assigned your food and drink What if he sees your faces looking thinner than the other men your age? You would endanger my life with the king So Daniel is a realist he knows not just is he asking for this favor? But he also realizes that in order for this eunuch his superior to do this his superior We be putting his own job and his well-being on
