Casey Ezell: I was a military brat and I was a very, very smart little girl who would not leave my mother alone because I needed like constant mental stimulation. When I was about seven years old, I was bothering her for books as one does. And she shoved a copy of Anne McAfee's Dragon drums into my hands. And I fell in love with the dragons. So I bugged her again until she bought me all the rest of the books in the series. She taught me to read very early because she was like, oh my God, give this kid something to do.
