I wanted to write that book about the internet and I've always wanted to write about the internet because I grew up with the internet. And it's probably that bit of just wanting to understand and know more about these things so I could do interesting things with them myself. But also now as a result of a conscious kind of thesis, which is that in order to have any kind of agency in a complex world defined by the things we build or mostly by the things that others build, we have to be able to interact with them as more than kind of passive receivers of them.
