The Importance of Perception Range Requirements

Many of the self-driving car efforts often focus on, let's say, highway driving first because in many ways it's a simplified problem to city driving. I do think that it's easier to make a pretty compelling demo on the freeway. The implications of something going wrong on the freeway tend to be a lot worse. Imagine though, your self-driving truck or car getting stuck on the freeway? That's not really okay.
