Exemplification is a sort of primitive relation that is supposed to stand between a particular and a universal. That's platonism. And I think on platonist principles, that just isn't possible. If you say that particulars can stand in a relation of exemplification to each other, then the whole reason for postulating universals seems to collapse. We don't really understand what exemplification is then anymore.
