Ficino's Commentary on Life

Ficino believed that Platonism was part of God's plan for humankind. In a work called On the Christian Religion, he argued that late ancient Platonists were influenced by Christian ideas in their interpretation of Plato. The three books on life got him in trouble with the church authorities because of its talk of magic and astrology. He died in 1499, at the age of 66, which would probably have pleased Ficino no end for numerological reasons.
