The Role of Circumstantial Power in Childhood Trauma

The level of trust that childhood trauma robs us of is so consequential to our development and how we show up as adults. We only trust circumstantial power because if I can't generate well-being inside of me, I need someone external to me to stabilize my system. That developmental context overrides our natural trust in our self. The stakes are so high. I am not okay internally. And if you do something that hurts me and triggers me further, I'm not already okay to start with,. My homeostasis is not okay, you trigger me and I'm really not going to be okay.
