The F-Ef5 Tornado in Chicago
Around seven months after the Plainfield tornado, nearby Lamont, Illinois saw an F3 tornado pass through. Weather forecasters had anticipated the storm by a full day, and when the warm morning sirens blared, residents of Lamont had a full four minutes to find shelter. Seven people in Lamont were taken to hospitals, and although there was structural damage, it was far less than the devastation in Plainfield the year before. April 9, 2015, 11 tornadoes occurred across northern Illinois with six of those from the same storm. The tornado that hit Fairdale and Rochelle areas, roughly 80 miles due west of downtown Chicago, and just 20 miles west of DeKalb,
