The Internet Is Just a Dream
Rohini: I see a lost year, rather grim situation, yes. An Indian government survey found that in 2020 just as we entered the pandemic in March 2020, actually only 28% of schools even had internet connectivity. Many parents and children told me that they would walk kilometers to find a spot where there was some internet connection. Some villages tried to set up Wi-Fi hotspots. And this is in South India where more of the parents might have been at least school educated if not college.
