The Importance of Multidisciplinary Design in Engineering
The workforce to go after these problems doesn't exist. The disciplinary expertise and the engineering culture that's required to do this are in very different places. And so you have to have people that can cross those boundaries and work multidisciplinary, which is rare. This is why I write about it because I'm not capable of that. It's really hard to get those things together in an academic setting being undergrad, graduate, PhD. You're lucky if you're able to get like, you know, one or two hypersonic ground tests in the course of a five year PhD program with rockets.
