The Racism of Country Music
Jason Aldine and Morgan Wallen have been caught on tape using anti-black rhetoric. Historian Amanda Martinez says country music is both a symbol of racism and multiracial, diverse things. The last time a country song by a solo male artist reached number one was 42 years ago. It's an invention of the music industry in the 1920s when record executives recorded musicians along racial lines.
