There are an excess of seven thousand, 75 hundred of black homicides in this country every year. Two or three % of them might involve policei it, it, i t the the over attention that we give to to this subject is just tremendously out of out of wack. Leading cause of death among young black men is homicide. And it's not because the cops are shooting him, which is what young people have been d been led to believe.

Shermer speaks with Jason Riley about Maverick — the first-ever biography of Thomas Sowell, one of the great social theorists of our age. In a career spanning more than a half century, Sowell has written over thirty books, covering topics from economic history and social inequality to political theory, race, and culture. His bold and unsentimental assaults on liberal orthodoxy have endeared him to many readers but have also enraged fellow intellectuals, the civil-rights establishment, and much of the mainstream media.
