Is Zen a Religion?

As a child I was taken with the whole idea of goodwill to men. Today it's pretty commercialized, some people actually call it the war on Christmas. Zen Buddhism arose from within Buddhism and can be practiced by followers of any religion or followers of no religion. We have the whole question. Is Zen a religion? People have different answers.
