The Bolivian Mines

The country with the statistically shortest people is Bolivia. You might have to stoop in a few places but if you were tall, yes, you would still be able to go in there. There was no warning of deep holes that went down 100 feet. They seemed to rely on an alcove where there was a devil-like creature that they gave offerings to. For protection it clearly didn't work because sadly many died by the age of 40 of silicosis and in accidents.
