Is the Brain Sufficient to Create Consciousness?

A lot of visual processing is occurring unconsciously. You can tell this particularly in stereoscopic vision. Your emotions aren't in your brain, when you're nervous or frightened or excited, it's going to be in your gut or in your heart. And the brain has a body as a very famous review article put it about 20 odd years ago. We're not just this thing bobbing around in the top of our head, the brain is integrated through hormones and the feeling of the parasympathetic nervous system. I think that also therefore has a bearing on various projects to model the human brain in a computer. I think we're a long, long way from being able to do anything like
