Care Isn't the Central Organizing Principle of Our Society

The moment I held that grumpy pink piglet, I felt my priorities reshuffle in an instant. Neuroses, preoccupations, and even internet addiction for a time all fell away. Our society is arranged so that care is several notches down the priority list from economic growth. But caring doesn't have to be and shouldn't be limited to just close kin. It makes us feel more fully human, more whole in a uniquely satisfying way.
