China's Problem Is Not With the People

If China woke up to morrow as a liberal democracy, how would that change geo political challenge china poses to the united states? It would be great news. We would all have cost to celebrate. Of course, china would very quickly find that democracy is harder than authoritarianism. And so we'd have an extremely interesting spectacle, china wrestling with the kind of problems that currently get decided by a handful of people. So it's not for us to decide this, but it's up to the chinese people to decide it.
