The Importance of Collaboration in Comedy
A comedy director must be a collaborator. To direct comedy means you have to create an environment where everybody who is already funny or is sort of you know part of maintaining the joke that they're allowed to experiment. It has to be kind of a laboratory to get the best laugh right. Judd Apatow believes in letting funny people be funny spontaneously and then you know you can fix it in editing and stuff.
