The Unsolved Freeway Phantasm
The unsolved murders had a profound impact on each family. Some siblings of the victims struggled at school and were afraid to go anywhere alone. They distrusted men and had a general weariness of their community, with some developing a bitterness towards Washington, D.C., as a whole. The start of 1974 marked one year into nine months since the freeway phantom last struck. On Saturday, April 6, it was announced that arrests had been made for the 1971 murder of 14-year-old Angela Barnes.
