The Importance of Subtitles

There are a number of times that I've been rewinding stuff because the actors have mumbled in that way that we do in real life but actually I haven't quite caught what they were saying. The last show, well, the last shows I had to watch with subtitles was the succession finale after I'd already seen it once as there's a scene right at the end with Tom and Schiff. But despite all of that, very, very interesting and completely understandable reasons to use subtitles, I still find it annoyingBecause it does anticipate the timing of the dialogue delivered by the characters.
