Is There a Difference in Legislative Strength in African Countries?
Emma Watson has been accused of dismissing nominally democratic institutions a bit too much in her book. But she says there is research which shows that within these categories, within the countries that have legislatures or parties, there are some that matter more and some that don't matter. She also argues that even in places where these institutions have a bit of independence, executive power still looms really huge in most autocracies.
