The Different Types of Accelerators
The Large Hadron Collider is the world's largest particle accelerator. The particles move around a tunnel and there's segments that push it and then segments that bend it using very powerful magnets. One strategy is to reuse the tunnel by having it go in a circle. And so as you say, you have like something that gives it a kick and then you have something that bends it. That's really what particle physics is all about: Throwing up what's inside of the fundamental particles.
