Unemployment Insurance
Unemployment insurance was created in 19 35, and from its inception, it excluded 65 % of the a african american work force at that time from receiving benefits. And so here you have this really significantly complicated system that did shore up a lot of folks during this time. But i think it's also important to talk about how steeped in racial disparity and really overlaid, kind of the rasest underpinnings of a lot of the new deal programming.
