The Life and Times of Sarah Davies
Sarah Bonetta Forbes Davies was one of only two Africans to be specially evacuated in the case of war. She continued to be both a welcome correspondent and visitor to an ever more reclusive queen, Queen Victoria. Sarah's health was never robust, even in Africa, so that wasn't the solution this whole time. Her husband did erect a granite obelisk in her honor near their home in West Lagos.
