The Importance of Reducing Fertility Rates
Sally Kohn: Around the world, pronatalist policies have failed to really produce either any results or at least any results that are worth writing home about. Nothing that's going to actually reverse population decline in some of these countries or make a big difference. She says one thing that it does seem successful, tentatively is the ability of the state to accelerate birth rate increases if people want more children. The real problem with looking ahead is going to be declining fertility rates, not exploding fertility rates, she says.
