The RDA, the recommended daily allowance, is 150 micrograms per day. The ideal or optimal thyroid status may not be the same as not having a goiter. Carinary disease and congestive heart failure can be due or amplified by lack of iodine. If you are iodine replete then you should not have to worry about the goitrogenic effect of cruciferous vegetables.
