The Importance of Thinking About Money
There are a number of psychological factors at work here. We focus on the individual, and when it turns to the mass, we're just not motivated to act in the same way. The fact that we think, well, I'm not the only one, why should I help? And that very often functions as a kind of an excuse for not helping. It's been shown that money is something that makes us less likely to help.
