Alex Castellanos: The idea that you could keep the Soviets and the Nazis in view in the same book is completely banal. Both of these regimes were preoccupied with the same lands, he says. And once that becomes clear, then it's not surprising that this is where more people are going to be killed than anywhere else,.Castellanos: Even during war itself, they tended to provoke each other to do things which were worse than they might have done otherwise.
