The Style From 1993 by Kerry James Marshall
Kerry James Marshall created a type of arresting skin presence that was literally a spook, something that drew you out of your skin. The piece is called The Style from 1993. It was the first time that I had seen modern dress in such an epic scale in museum space. And so all these years later, I still remember and pay a huge debt of gratitude to Kerry James for that work and for the work that he continues to do.
